As a ’90’s kid’ I can still remember when I first discovered colourful mascara, but rather than blue I actually dabbled in an electric pink that Lancome launched way back in the early noughties, it was an interesting look I adopted thanks to that mascara, and one I probably won’t be repeating, but now a little older and wiser I’ve become obsessed with the deep azure blue of Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara.
When I first spotted it on QVC with Benefits beautiful Head Make-Up & Trend Artist Lisa Potter-Dixon, the fluttering of those stunning blue lashes was enough to make sure I added it to my Boots basket quicker than you could say blue!
I can’t deny that I do have a slight girl crush on Lisa, so despite not always buying everything, I always tune into QVC just to listen to her tips and tricks.
For my own make-up I really wanted the blue to pop, so to achieve this look I combined it with a pale lilac/pink eye shadow and a turquoise eye liner. Giving the ultimate ‘under the sea’ eyes that my inner mermaid would be proud of.
With the same They’re Real effect but in blue, it’s safe to say that this has now become my default daily mascara simply for the vibrant colour that it brings to my day.
Of course it’s still the same pain to remove, so I would strongly recommend investing in the They’re Real remover, but the high pigmentation that’s contained within that shiny metallic blue tube is treasure itself.
In case you’re also wanting a little make-up inspiration you should check out Lisa’s new youtube videos, not only is she blooming lovely but I’ve become far more experimental with my make-up without looking like a clown!
What are you thoughts on blue mascara?
