I’ve started to realise that we all put ourselves under far too much pressure to live a so called ‘perfect life’.
I have friends who wonder if they’ve made the right decisions in their work choices, relationships and all that’s between. Really beating themselves up that they’re not more successful or haven’t got to where they wanted to be at the age they’re at.
When in reality there is no such thing – no matter how much you tell yourself, or how much else everyone acts like they’ve got their shit together, most of us are just bumbling along hoping that we’ll make it through.
Blame our so called life rules and need to conform from peer pressure, religion, society or history – the simple fact is, there are no rules.
“You only get one ride – take your time”
No-one can live our lives, and no two lives are the same – how boring would that be!
What you do is different to what anyone else will do, because reality check – we are all different and that’s the way it is.
Life is messy, and yes it can be confusing and seriously seem to suck sometimes, but amongst the mess is a reminder that you’re on your own journey nobody else’s.
As long as it makes you happy and feel like you’re getting where you’re going, why does it matter if it took you a while to get there, or how you got there?
So what if you’re still looking for your dream job?
The one’s you do until you find the right one will probably equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to reach it.
So what if you still haven’t found Mr Right?
Take the time to love yourself before you love anyone else. And maybe just when you’re having the best time on your own he might appear.
So what if you still don’t own your own home?
Money comes and goes, and setting your foundations at 27 or 47 really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
Without the struggles and the bumps in the road we wouldn’t appreciate the final destination, or realise that to get there you have to go off the beaten track to make you realise it’s what you want in the first place.
Show me someone who’s had a dream and got their straight away?…. You probably can’t.
Behind everyone who’s been successful or looks happy, there is a journey they’ve had to go on to get there.
There are no mistakes in life, only missed opportunities.
So rather than beating yourself up and calling yourself a failure, look at the bigger picture.
If you hadn’t of occasionally gone through risks or traumas, where would you be now?
